Three-time Eclipse Award winner Spectacular Bid was photographed at Claiborne, where the Kentucky Derby winner had entered stud with a then-record syndication price of $22-million. In his final race, “The Bid” won the 1980 Woodward Stakes in a walkover after no one else dared to run against him.
